Before Your Test
Preparation Checklist
- Fill Out the Questionnaire: Complete the pre-test questionnaire sent via email, which will help us understand your goals and medical history.
- Download the InstaPhysique Insights App: This free app will provide important insights and track your progress throughout your journey.
Pre-Test Requirements
- No Strenuous Exercise 24 Hours Before: To ensure accurate results, avoid any intense physical activity the day before your test.
Fasting: Please fast for at least 4-6 hours before the test, but you may drink water. Avoid any stimulants like coffee or energy drinks. - Dress Comfortably: For those undergoing Active Metabolic Testing (AMR), wear comfortable workout clothing and bring a towel or a change of outfit if needed.
- Arrive Early: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to complete necessary preparations.
These simple steps will help us get the most accurate results, ensuring we create a plan that’s tailored to your body’s needs.
During Your Test
What to Expect
If you are doing Active Metabolic Testing (AMR), you will be placed on a stationary bike where the intensity of the test will gradually increase.
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Testing:
- Overview: For the Resting Metabolic Rate test, you will be seated comfortably in a chair. A heart rate monitor will be placed on you, and you will use a breath analyzer to measure how efficiently your body is burning calories at rest.
- Test Duration: The RMR test itself will take around 10 minutes, but the entire process will take approximately 30 minutes.
- What It Measures: This test evaluates how many calories your body burns at rest, giving us key insights into your metabolic health and energy needs for personalized nutrition and exercise recommendations.
Active Metabolic Testing (AMR) Steps:
- Warm-Up: The test begins with a low-intensity warm-up to measure your resting metabolic rate (RMR).
- Titration: The intensity of the exercise will slowly increase as we monitor how your body utilizes oxygen and burns calories at different levels of exertion.
- VO2 Max: We’ll assess your VO2 max, which measures how efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise—a key indicator of your cardiovascular fitness and longevity.
- Fat-Burning Efficiency: We’ll determine how effectively your body burns fat for fuel during exercise, helping tailor your workouts and nutrition plans.

What Happens Next?
Depending on the package you’ve purchased, you will meet with a Metabolic Expert and a Nutrition Consultant within 1-2 weeks to review your test results and create a personalized health plan.
