Can you use your HSA or FSA for fitness classes? At InstaPhysique, yes.

Coach and member on a Megaformer at InstaPhysique Sacramento, an HSA and FSA eligible fitness studio

Yes. Megaformer classes, InstaRoll lymphatic massage and infrared sauna sessions at InstaPhysique can qualify for HSA and FSA reimbursement through TrueMed. You take a short survey, TrueMed decides whether you qualify, and if you do, you pay with your HSA card or submit receipts to your plan. Members save an average of 30% by paying with pre-tax dollars. It works at all four studios: Sacramento Arden, Sacramento Midtown, Roseville, and the new Folsom studio at the Palladio.

The short version

  • What qualifies: Megaformer memberships (every class on the schedule), InstaRoll sessions and infrared sauna sessions (sauna is not offered at Roseville).
  • How: a 2-minute TrueMed survey. If you qualify, TrueMed issues a Letter of Medical Necessity.
  • How you pay: with your HSA card, or by submitting receipts and the letter to your HSA/FSA provider. TrueMed guarantees reimbursement once you qualify.
  • Savings: an average of 30%, because the money is pre-tax.
  • Deadline to know: most plans require 2026 FSA money to be spent by December 31, 2026.
  • Where: 2310 Fair Oaks Blvd and 1827 J St in Sacramento, 1470 Eureka Rd in Roseville, and 360 Palladio Pkwy in Folsom.

Why a workout can be an HSA or FSA expense

On their own, gym memberships and fitness classes are not eligible HSA or FSA expenses. They become eligible when exercise is part of preventing or treating a specific health condition and that is documented in a Letter of Medical Necessity. TrueMed is the company that runs that evaluation for InstaPhysique. It asks about your health and what you want exercise to do for you, decides whether you qualify, and handles the paperwork and the support afterward.

That is the whole mechanism. No bloodwork, no appointment, and nothing changes about how you book or show up to class. The details and the survey link live on our HSA/FSA page.

What qualifies at InstaPhysique

  • Megaformer classes. Forty minutes of high intensity, low impact strength training on the Megaformer. Every class on the fitness schedule counts: total body, abs and arms, circuit, and stretch.
  • InstaRoll. Infrared lymphatic massage sessions, available at every studio.
  • Infrared sauna. Private sessions at Arden, Midtown and Folsom. Roseville does not have a sauna.
  • Memberships. Already a member? Future payments qualify once you are approved. New here? Try the 1-Month Intro first. TrueMed charges a small one-time fee to evaluate you, so the math works best once you are on a membership: join, qualify, and your monthly payments can go on your HSA.

How to qualify in three steps

  1. Take the survey. TrueMed’s questionnaire takes about two minutes. The link is on our HSA/FSA page, and the front desk can text it to you.
  2. Get your letter. If you qualify, TrueMed issues a Letter of Medical Necessity. That letter is what makes your InstaPhysique payments eligible.
  3. Pay with your HSA card, or get reimbursed. Move your payments to your HSA card, or submit receipts and the letter to your HSA/FSA provider. TrueMed sends the instructions and handles support if your plan has questions.

Why October and November are the months to do this

Two calendars line up right now.

Open enrollment. Most employers run benefits enrollment in October and November. That is when you choose next year’s HSA or FSA contribution, and it is a very different decision when you know your workouts can count.

Use it or lose it. Health FSA money has a deadline. If you have a balance left in a 2026 FSA, most plans need it spent by December 31. Some plans allow a short grace period into early 2027 or a carryover of a limited amount, but many allow neither. Check your plan documents, then put the balance to work.

2026 health FSA facts
Contribution limit$3,400 per person
Maximum carryover into 2027 (if your plan allows one)$680
Deadline on most plansDecember 31, 2026

HSA money is different. It rolls over year to year, so there is no December deadline, but open enrollment is still when you set how much goes in. The 2026 limits come from IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32.

Where you can use it

InstaPhysique is locally owned, founded in Sacramento in 2016, and now has four studios.

  • Sacramento · Arden. 2310 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95825. Megaformer classes, InstaRoll, infrared sauna.
  • Sacramento · Midtown. 1827 J St, Suite 130, Sacramento, CA 95811, entrance on 19th Street. Megaformer classes, InstaRoll, infrared sauna.
  • Roseville. 1470 Eureka Rd, Suite 100, Roseville, CA 95661. Megaformer classes, InstaRoll.
  • Folsom. 360 Palladio Pkwy, Suite 405, Folsom, CA 95630, inside the Palladio. Megaformer classes, InstaRoll, infrared sauna. Open since October 17, 2026.

New to the Megaformer? Start with a month.

The 1-Month Intro is $139 for 12 credits, and each credit books a class or an InstaRoll session at any of the four studios. Your 30 days start at your first visit, not at purchase. Classes run 40 minutes, are coached, and never have more than 16 people in the room, so you learn the machine properly on day one.

Hard on muscles. Easy on joints. Sacramento voted InstaPhysique Best Fitness Center in 2025.

FAQ

Is a gym membership HSA eligible?

Not on its own. Fitness becomes an eligible HSA or FSA expense when it is part of preventing or treating a health condition and that is documented in a Letter of Medical Necessity. At InstaPhysique, TrueMed handles that evaluation, and it starts with a 2-minute survey.

Can I use my FSA for Pilates or Megaformer classes?

Yes, once you qualify through TrueMed. Megaformer classes at InstaPhysique are covered the same way as the rest of the fitness schedule.

Does InstaPhysique take HSA cards?

After you are approved, you can pay with your HSA card. If your plan works on reimbursement instead, you submit your receipts and the Letter of Medical Necessity, and TrueMed sends the instructions.

Does the 1-Month Intro qualify?

The intro is the way to try us, not the thing to run through TrueMed. TrueMed charges a one-time evaluation fee, so it pays off on a membership. Try the month, join, then qualify.

Does this work at the new Folsom studio?

Yes. Folsom opened at the Palladio on October 17, 2026, with Megaformer classes, InstaRoll and infrared sauna, and the same TrueMed process applies.

I am already a member. Can I still qualify?

Yes. Take the survey, and once you are approved your future payments are eligible. Reimbursement for past payments depends on your plan.

How much does it save?

Members save an average of 30%, because HSA and FSA money is pre-tax. The exact amount depends on your tax bracket and your plan.

Your HSA was built for this

Come take your first month in Sacramento, Roseville or Folsom. When you join, take the two-minute survey, find out if you qualify, and let pre-tax dollars pay for the workout you were going to do anyway. Start the TrueMed survey or claim the $139 month.

Eligibility is determined by TrueMed based on your survey responses. Reimbursement depends on your HSA/FSA plan. This article is general information, not tax advice. Questions? Email info@instaphysique.com or ask the front desk.
